A downloadable game

Cid is cooped up in quarantine with little to do but feed the cat, mope around, read, and dream. When they sleep, their worries manifest as strange dream worlds with their own internal consistency. Explore to learn more about their anxieties surrounding the past, future, and present.  Collect "dream effects" which change their appearance and grant various powers. Reunite with childhood cats and have them join your dream party.

All in all, I promise you    Cid is going to be OK. But what has happened to Lu?

Lu:Cid is an unfinished Yume Nikki fan game made for Dream Diary Jam 4.
The pandemic was really only just beginning, in a way I couldn't really fathom yet. While participating in this jam was in many ways something to occupy my time between semesters during quarantine, it was also a way of expressing some of what I was feeling at that moment in time.  It's a bit of a time capsule.
In addition to Yume Nikki, I took inspiration from     Soul Void, Off, and OneShot.  This is pretty much the first game I've ever made. Thank you for taking the time to check it out.
IMPORTANT: As of most recent version, uploaded 7/1/20...
-You do not need to eat. This was a planned feature that
was incompletely implemented.
-Weapons serve no purpose at this time.
-Tarot is incompletely implemented and is not needed to
progress at this time.
-The book "Jekyll & Hyde" is properly formatted up to
Chapter 3; everything after is likely unreadable.
-Credits have been updated.
As of 7/3/20, a comprehensive walkthrough (extremely
thorough; spoilers ahead) and a quick and dirty
walkthrough (a list of dream effects, what they do and
how to find them). In the next update, these will be
included within the compressed game files.

The little detail of Cid having their eyes closed when they're dreaming is clever! Looking forward to collecting more cats and I'm very interested in seeing how the tarot card reading system develops in future updates.

Also,  I'm not sure if it was a bug, but I couldn't seem to get the effects to work. Do you have to be in a certain location to use them?

Thank you, Widdershins! I appreciate you checking out my game!

I'm glad you brought up the effects issue. What I think is happening: for some reason, the effects don't work from the inventory, you have to go into equipment and put them on. It's a pain and I'm going to add it to the things I need to fix for next update. I hope that fixes the problem, but please let me know if the issue persists.

Currently, the cat effect and the face mask effect are mostly cosmetic with some minor changes to certain events. Face mask will allow you to pass into the city. If you eat the cat food, you get a text box that's like "bleh!!" but if you are wearing the cat effect and eat the cat food... You get a text box that says it still doesn't taste very good.

The Ghost effect will make you invisible to non-supernatural entities, allow you to pass through the city gate, and allow you to pass through some doors.

I really need to make a walkthrough guide or something, because the game is very rough and unintuitive right now! But I hope this helps a bit.

That did fix the problem, thanks! I was able to put on the gas mask go into the city and look around.

Glad to hear!
